Your Home Office

Designate a portion of your home as a business area. Working in a dedicated space may increase your productivity and professionalism.

Organization

Organize the physical space in a way that works for you.

Use a planner, calendar or software program to keep your home-based business organized. Maintain a database of your clients and their contact information. Clearly mark appointments on your calendar. Keep all receipts and tax documents in an accordion file or other organizational tool. Many organizational products prove helpful for maintaining records and important business documents.

This is not a hobby

Determine in advance that you will run your home based business like a business. If you want to build another stream of income, and especially if you want to turn your home based business into a full-time income, you have to think about it like a business from day one. Anything less will dramatically hinder your chance of success, if not eliminate it entirely.

Set Goals

It’s important to set goals so you know what you want out of your business and how you plan to make it happen. Your goals can be financial or otherwise, but it’s important to have them and revise them as needed. Write out your goals and keep them in a place where you can see them often during the day and night.

Commit to your success

There are many distractions when you work at home.  Make a commitment to yourself that you are serious about your business.  Be disciplined about your work effort.

Certainty

When you start a home based business, you need to go into it with a sense of certainty that you can make it work. Adopt a mindset of belief that you will have success.

Laser Focus

Everyone who comes into this industry comes into it with a different skill set, different work ethic, different mind set …remind yourself that YOU are unique! Your success rate is entirely based on your work ethic and your level of tenacity.
